Xanti Schawinsky, Parachutist, lithography, 65x45 cm

A lithographic work by the master of graphic advertising art, Xanti Schawinsky.

It reproduces all the typical characteristics of this artist, who favours plain, geometric shapes, presenting very clean and immediate settings, just like a billboard.

Here, a parachutist is silhouetted against a completely black sky, presumably having jumped from the plane that can be seen in the background. 

The image reproduced here may refer to the war and to some of the artist's memories.

The taste oscillates between Bauhaus and photomontage, techniques studied and loved by the artist.

Based on the style and the very dark setting, the work could be dated to around 1925.

The work is on paper, numbered 82/99 in the lower left-hand corner and hand-signed in the lower right-hand corner.
