"The pond" is an oil on canvas by the artist Giuseppe Comparini, heir to Macchiaioli's painting and impressionist technique. Landscape painting constitutes the most important part of his artistic production, where nature prevails while the human figure appears, most of the time, in scenes of rural life. In this work the artist represents a landscape whose protagonist is a pond. The human presence is given not only by the dwellings, but also by two human figures that are little defined but visible beyond the pond. The dark colours used darken the scene, however the atmosphere seems to be calm.
