Giovanni Fattori, Untitled, etching, 36x52 cm (with frame)

This typical Risorgimento scene immediately catalogues the work in Fattori's production. He in fact was a recurring representation of war scenes and soldiers during the interventions for the liberation, in which the artist believed strongly. In the drawing, soldiers on horseback and on foot are represented with rifles pointed, right in the middle of the clash.

The unmistakable style of the artist, belonging to the current of Macchiaioli, through the so-called "Spots", can in fact give realism to the work, which take shape thanks to the play of light and shadow typical of this current.
