"Myselfie - Homo Monitor" is the evolution of Homo Sapiens and stems from a reflection on the impact of smartphones on our daily lives. The smartphone empowers us, it becomes an extension of our body and our communication potential. We communicate via monitors, we receive input and send output. We send text messages, voice messages and finally emotions. Emotions in the form of icons - emoji or emoticons - that become more and more evolved, more and more customisable, more and more like us. In this new evolutionary step, facial features will cease to have the function of expressing emotions, and as once happened to the tails of the first hominids, they will cease to exist. The Homo Monitor has a face-monitor, worships the divinity of Connection, the mother of all input, and it is not uncommon to find him exchanging tender 'bottom-monitor' hugs with other individuals. But don't be fooled: this is not love, but a pure exchange of data. The 'Myselfie - Homo Monitor', in fact, reproduces by budding because it is too fond of itself - hence the common name 'myselfie'.

Myselfie technique

Design and 3d modelling. Self-produced sculptures in 3D printing (PLA filament). Hand finishing and painting. Sculptures with a non-smooth but "rough" surface are printed with an experimental technique that causes the printer nozzle to "shake" in order to create a surface effect of irregularity.
