The "La Renuncia" serigraphy is part of the folder composed of 4 serigraphs belonging to real collections made by Molina over the years.

The work entitled La Renuncia belongs to the series Los Olvidados created by the artist between 2011 and 2012. The forgotten are the subjects of this series that MOlina represents as mythological figures.

"... creatures forgotten from a long time ago. Once warriors, ready to fight, now they are defeated, expropriated, silenced. [...] Their bodies, their flesh and their blood have been transformed into the sapless wood of uprooted trees, into battered iron, into the mechanism of a rusty machine, into the broken stones of some flowerless, nameless tombstone. Souls that ask for redemption, in search of their original pride, of a new identity. Souls that have returned to free the Earth, to tell their forgotten stories, to show us the hidden dangers and paint the traitor's doors of blood".

With these words the artist José Molina convincingly describes the nature and purpose of his works. Before we grasp the conspicuous formal aspects of his portraits, we are struck by their expressive power, a pain that torments the subject represented and all humility in general.

The character represented here is a shipwrecked man transformed into a seagull, who lives in the middle of the solitary ocean without a destination, in a perennial flight without objectives or expectations.

The work is signed at the bottom right and numbered 83/100.
