Work by Stegmann depicting a street in the town of Deisenhofen near Munich, Germany. The title Buchenstrasse literally means Street of Books.

The artist at the age of two years lost the use of his arms due to spinal polio. He then began to paint holding the palette knife between his lips, using both oil paints and watercolors. He also engraves on stone with the burin and makes woodcuts and sculptures on linoleum. During his life he took part in numerous exhibitions including the Salon des Artistes in Paris and the Cincinnati-Art-Museum in Ohio. It is also awarded several honors by Academies and Associations.

The work is signed at the bottom while on the back there is a photograph of the artist with information about his life.
