A granolithograh inspired by the 1976 painting by Dalí titled “Gala Contemplating the Mediterranean Sea which at Twenty Meters Becomes the Portrait of Abraham Lincoln- Homage to Rothko”. The original artwork was influenced by Dalí’s study of visual perception and the minimum colour blocks needed to illustrate a human face. The prints were realized by Dalí in 1992 and 5000 such prints exist. The surrealist artist plays with perspective in this particular piece. The work represents two subjects depending on the position of observation. From a distance, the portrait of Abraham Lincoln appears which occupies the entire surface of the work. However, when we look closely, Gala’s naked body takes shape. She is portrayed from the back and is standing at the window, gazing at the sunset by the sea. Our gallery has five out of the 5000 unnumbered and unsigned prints up for sale.
