The work is part of a pictorial cycle dedicated to ancient oriental iconography, entitled Japonese Pulp. This is one of Enrico Pambianchi's most successful cycles, which has found over the years a massive consensus among collectors and insiders alike. Many galleries have dedicated solo exhibitions to this artist, bringing to the attention of their collectors the works belonging to this line of work. The subjects chosen by the artist are often scenes from legends, depictions of life that reproduce everyday life according to the principles of Shinto philosophy in which harmony and nature merge into one. Fascinated by the subjects of Japanese paintings and at the same time teased by the serenity and calm they convey, Pambianchi proposes, through a cultured language between formal and informal, a hyper-realistic reinterpretation of themes and situations typical of Japanese popular fiction. Scenes of a harmless or even comic violence, like that of western comics. Strong works that shout cries of silence. The paintings contain a series of quotes captured in an ironic, sarcastic, meticulous and maniacal care for pictorial details made with oil, pencils and collage that leads to an apparently cheap, desecratory and almost irreverent image towards a solemn culture like the Japanese one.

In this case we find a delicate setting in a Japanese interior where geishas are busy preparing food and tea. Despite the inclusion of some somewhat macabre elements, the viewer perceives the whole composition in a muffled tone due to the stylistic choice made by the artist.

For the realization of the work Pambianchi uses the technique of collage and different materials (oil, resins, acrylic, pencils and chalk) with which he retouches the surface, making it at the same time rigorous and refined. The result is a deformed image, the result of an improbable vision and meticulous manner.

This unique work is one of the series on paper created by the artist to create a more affordable collection, while maintaining the uniqueness of each work.

The work is signed at the bottom right.
