Work of the surrealist master Salvador Dalì. The artist represents a female figure in the centre of the work. The mythology narrates that Apollo fell in love with the nymph named Daphne, but she never reciprocated him. To help her, the father of the nymph decides to trasform her in a plant of laurel. For this reason, Dalì represents Daphne without face and without hands, replaced by a foliages of laurel, and he inserts her in an empty space to create a sense of loneliness and perdition. The work is hand signed bottom right and numbered 141/150 bottom left Work published in the catalog Dalì, Das druckgraphische Werk II, page 179.
