An etching by Rembrandt in the third state on paper datable to the end of the 18th century (Basan print-run).
The work depicts the Supper at Emmaus, a subject very dear to the artist, who already produced a single work of it in 1629.
The Gospel episode recounted refers to the moment when two of Jesus' disciples, immediately after his resurrection, recognise the Master in their fellow diners at Emmaus.
The etching is dated and signed on the plate and is proof of a third state out of three.
