Giancarlo Prandelli, Self-Portrait, Pencil, Sanguine and Indian Ink on Cardboard, 41x41cm

In this original work by Giancarlo Prandelli, he proposes a Self Portrait from various perspectives. From the enigmatic look of the artist to the halo of mystery constructed within the painting, Prandelli’s work is highly reminiscent of Leonardo’s representation of specific characters. A tribute to the great icon Leonardo is illustrated with his portrait on the upper right. The face is not fully visible, but the unmistakable features can be recognized. The technique of using a mixture of ink, pencil and sanguine helps enhance the minute details of the work. The Prandelli Code is written from right to left, in a similar fashion to how Leonardo wrote and we notice Prandelli’s signature symbol on the bottom right corner.
