A unique composition by the surrealist artist as part of the Tristan and Isolde book written by Andre Mary. One of the 21 colored etchings, this work portrays the beautiful Queen Isolde, the lover of Tristan. The clandestine adulterous love was discovered by Isolde’s husband and Tristan’s uncle, King Mark. Dalí depicts Isolde using simple and clean lines with minimum color. He produced this artwork in order to focus the viewer’s attention to the sensual and deep gaze of the alluring Queen. The piee is part of the I-LXXV suites illustrated on Japan nacrè with wide margins. It is numbered LVII/LXXV on the bottom left and hand-signed by Dalí on the lower right corner.
