This work belongs to the School of Macchiaioli, a movement born in Italy in the second half of the nineteenth century by a group of Tuscan artists. They are based on the rendering of forms through the play of light on patches of color that, juxtaposed together, compose scenes of verist matrix. The main subject of the work is Renaissance and in fact sees a group of bersaglieri marching.
The work is signed in the lower left corner.
