Artists' Books

The artist's book – a fully fledged piece of art - is an unusual artistic creation, not so widespread, but charming exactly like a painting or a sculpture. Many experts loved collecting artists' books – some of them are available even at MoMa in New York or at Centre Pompidou in Paris. Many artists realized this kind of artistic product: Salvador Dalì, Lucio Fontana, Enrico Baj (just to name a few) who have signed several editions with their limited edition artworks.

The artists' books are literary works with a writing part and an illustrated part, realized and signed by the artists. An example is the text “Romeo and Juliet” by Shakespeare, printed by Rizzoli Editore in 1975, that contains ten color prints by Salvador Dalì.

These are artworks produced in series, each one signed by the artist, usually in a large edition.
