Artwork by the Macchiaioli artist Giovanni Malesci, universal heir of the master Giovanni Fattori. It was painted in oil on canvas and dates from 1966.

Malesci is painting a village in the Maremma, a geographical area stretching from Tuscany to Lazio. There is no human presence in this painting, and Malesci probably represents the deserted streets of a summer afternoon.

The artist remains faithful to a style oriented towards the art of the Macchiaioli, preferring colour to outline, with details that are not detailed but are nevertheless immediately recognisable.

Work dated and signed in the lower left-hand corner.
