In 1974 Salvador Dali illustrated a book by the French poet Tristan Corbière entitled Les Amours Jaunes with 10 engravings. The golden marks that complete each engraving refer to the title of the accursed poet's collection and contrast with the black ones, balancing the scene. Hovering between dream and nightmare, between darkness and light, Dali interprets the sense of constant anguish that characterises Corbière's life and style. The Spanish artist, guided by the psychic automatism typical of Surrealism, represents "The Yellow Loves" as a sick feeling through an exaggerated and pathological eroticism.

The work is signed at the bottom right in pencil and numbered 273/300 at the bottom left.

The entire collection is published in the catalogue raisonné of Dali's graphics published by Prestel.
