Tug boat, 2011: retouchè by the contemporary artist Alessandro Russo. It belongs to a series of works dedicated to industrial landscapes and ports. After artworks about industrial sites mostly located along the sea, his works switched to the sea itself and to its relationship with man, or, to its relationship with human settlements. This series representing harbours, ships and details of industrial architecture, are crossed by a sense of majesty, domain and sometimes abuse of power of mankind and of its work on landscape. Only the magnificence of nature, the expressive power of skies or the vastness of territories, can overcome the power of makind over nature. This work represents a tug boat on the left, and a marine landscape on the right; blue brush strokes make the sky and the sea bright. The retouchè is signed on the right bottom, marked P.U (unique piece) and coloured by hand on the left bottom.
