Eden is the title of Cosimo Carola's work, an acrylic on canvas representing Adam and Eve in the act of committing original sin.

The work is unique in its genre; the artist offers us in his art an anthropomorphic type of painting, in which he represents the subjects in a decomposed way and then reconstructs them in a cubist key: the bodies are plastic, they articulate rhythmically and multiply in geometric figurations.

The work is completely realised in black and white. In the centre of the painting we find Adam and Eve, the serpent and two rucertulas; the two biblical characters are intent on eating the apple, which is in Adam's hand.

As can be seen, the apple is the only element, together with the serpent's tongue, to be coloured bright red. Behind them is a three-dimensional background given by the rich vegetation: trees, plants and flowers. The work is signed in the bottom right-hand corner.
