Food

Food is beloved by all people in the world, today is one of the most profitable industry not only in food service, but also in photography, publishing and …. in art! During Renaissance, one of the most favourite subject in art was still life , so called because it was considered “death” all fruits or flowers extracted from their natural habitat . Colourful fruit baskets elegantly nestled on a table surrounded by a matte and opaque light.

This tradition is continued during the centuries, and Flemish art perfected the technique and the different rendering of lights, colours and depth : so the elements seem alive, like we could touch them with our hands.

Today, how it is represented?

In contemporary art the subject is changed: no more compositions, but only a single element, so all the attention is focused on it, becoming the protagonist. Loris Dogana realizes a banana becoming a bomb and Noba draws an artichoke, a poor and simple element that becomes a source of inspiration Instead La Pupazza interprets, in a pop way, some elements of the Mediterranean food, transforming peas in turtles, and the red of a traffic light in a tomato sauce.

Food inspires the contemporary artists in so many ways, they represent it in different ways, underlining the nobility, or the freshness, or the form about an essential element.
