Celebrity

Celebrities are one of the most represented subjects in art, which raises up a celebrity to an icon, consecrating a star to shine forever. With celebrities we mean symbols who have excelled in music, cinema and actuality, leaving an immortal imprint in their artistic world. In the beginning there was Marilyn, painted with the pop style by Andy Warhol, and then we can see Steve Jobs, Freddy Mercury, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, John F. Kennedy.....

Each artists use very different way to represent icons: for example Enrico Pambianchi portrays them ironically, Yux with a pop-rock style; Julian T - trough his own technique called “Impact”- chooses to merge a colour’s spot and the photography of a star.

So ephemeral and immortality, icon and stain, contingency and immanence are always united, as two sides of the same coin. In pop and contemporary art, there are tributes to cartoon characters, like Snow White, Pinocchio and Calimero.
