Animals

Animals are often represented in paintings and artworks, sometimes as main characters (for example in Egyptian or Indian Art, where, respectively, cats and cows are considered holy), other times animals are represented as secondary elements, like in Renaissance artworks (Leonardo da Vinci's ones for example).

Animals, thanks to their tenderness, are considered friends for humans, who represent them in many different ways. Some artists celebrate animals present in the zodiac, other paid tribute through coloured sculptures as Cracking Art, and others, like Meloniski da Villacidro, draw animals like metaphysical subjects belonging to a dreamlike world.

So, they can be undisputed stars or secondary elements, however animals are objects of creative interpretation by the artists from antiquity to the present days.
