Seascapes

The sea represents one of the most beloved theme in literature and art, because, with its immensity and its colours, it evokes always emotions, reflections, scares and it is an excellent source of inspiration.

The way it has been represented is connected to the feeling that the poet or painter feels when he looks at that: so Yux, with his acrylic technique, shows us a sea full of coloured fishes, each colour is related to a particular mood, whereas the Macchiaoli's artists (like Volpe or Sbrana), with their oils, represents sea paintings and melancholy landscapes with extremely realistic strokes.

On the contrary, Meloniski da Villacidro represents the sea with powerful colours obtaining a dreamlike and mysterious, but cheerful, atmosphere.

Finally, Athos Faccincani loves painting amazing corners of Amalfi coast or Portofino showing, in his screen printings, not only the sea, but everyday moments during a sunny summer's day.
