Renato Guttuso, Caffè Greco, lithography, 70x80 cm

Renato Gottuso, an artist of 20^th century famous for being politically and socially active,makes artworks where he comunicates political and contemporary social reality. In this lithografy he paints the roman café founded by Nicola “levantino”, for whom it owes its name “Greco”, which was for a long time a meeting place for intellectuals and artists (Gottuso himself, De Chirico, Picasso, Futurists...). The artist uses his typical black sketch to make characters, marking shades that intensify volumes.
