Loris Dogana, Smile, in vitro graphics, 27x27x6 cm (with frame)

This in vitro edition work depicts a male figure whose head is replaced by a notepad from which he tears out pages with many different expressions. The artist shows the observer how each of us is capable of feeling many emotions, and uses the last page to encourage us to smile in the face of adversity. 

The image is doubled: in the background we find the male figure, while on the PVC we find the various sheets of the notepad which are projected onto the background creating a 3D shadow play. 

This design work is an experiment in the game of perception.
"We always feel divided between reason and emotion, brain and heart, like parallel universes. Our main effort is to find a balance in order to see the whole picture".

The black lines of reason only meet the colour of emotion when the viewer superimposes them.
