The work depicts a man and a woman holding hands. Their heads, however, are replaced by a cactus and balloons respectively, the details and shades of which are shown in the background beyond the glass, in greyscale. The scene is entitled Soul Mates and ironises how two such different and incompatible elements are instead considered an ideal couple. In fact, the balloons, so fragile, would burst if brought close to the thorns of the plant; yet the two lovers are not discouraged and, strong in their love, they shake hands. The work is signed in the bottom centre.
