Domenico Cantatore was an Italian artist of the twentieth century. He leaves the south of Italy in young age to move to Rome and then to Milan, where he joins the artistic and literary movement named Corrente; he move to Paris in the 1932 where Impressionism and Fauves interest him. Returned in Italy, he becomes teacher in the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, Milano. Usual theme of Cantatore's artworks is the South Italy: landscapes, people and colors. A female figure is represented here by southern features: she is an elegant bourgeois woman and the artist used bright colors to create a luminous atmosphere.
