Colour woodcut from The Divine Comedy, a text that Dali illustrated with 33 triptychs, each composed of three panels referring to the three canticles.

This image refers to Canto XXI of Paradise. We find ourselves in the Heaven of Saturn, where Dante, accompanied by Beatrice, encounters the soul of Pier Damiani. Dante at first notices a glittering golden staircase, which rises up towards the other and seems to have no end. It is studded with luminous souls that traverse it.

The woodcut is signed in the bottom right-hand corner by the artist.
