Coloured lithograph by the surrealistic artsit Salvador Dalì.

This particular lithograph can be compared to Dalí’s collection of 14 works of original watercolour commissioned by Jean-Paul Schneider. Dali’s production revolved around fruit studies. He used 19th century botanical engravings, and transposed their meaning by including symbolic and fantastic figures as per the Surrealist tradition. The Flordalí II composition reflects many distinctive Dalian themes, such as the vanishing lines that run towards the distant horizon, the mountainous contours or the animated characters that populate the scene.

Dalí has utilized various living beings such as animals, plants, trees and fruits as a metaphor of the sexuality of human beings. These elements are in fact, almost rendered in an anthropomorphic form. This is one of the last lithographs made by Dalí since shortly after, he fell sick with palsy which prevented him to work. It was published by WUCUA and printed by Matthieu as part of a series of 5000 prints done on Arches paper.

The lithograph is signed on the lower right and numbered on tha back 2791/4880.
