Obey (Shepard Fairey), Lotus Woman AC HPM, silkscreen print and collage paper on LP cover, 30.5x30.5 cm, 2013

Lotus Woman AC HPM is a silkscreen print and paper collage, executed on an LP (vinyl) cover, by the American street artist Shepard Fairey, also known as Obey.

The work looks exactly like a record cover: this recalls Obey's great connection with the world of music and his great interest in the singers he portrays in many of his subjects. From an elegant pattern, rendered in the colours beige and black, emerges in the centre, outlined by a circle, a half-length figure of a woman with her arms raised upwards holding a wreath of flowers.

The subject appears to be dressed in a cassock, like the women of ancient Greece. In the centre of the garland of flowers outlined against a black background we find the inscription: 'OBEY', while below it appears the smaller inscription 'Records', together with the face of André the Giant, the symbol of the artist's artistic production. The work is dated 2013, is signed at the bottom right and numbered in a limited edition of only eight pieces.
