Obey, Eyes Open, screen printing, 90x61 cm

A sreen printing by Obey (Shepard Fairey) depicting a rose on a globe with an eye inside and the words Eyes Open, hence the title.  The work is an invitation by the artist to look to the future with eyes wide open to humanity. According to the artist, misinformation, division and apathy have led to the weakening of the pillars of democracy, an ineffective response to Covid-19, and a lack of meaningful action on environmental destruction and climate change. As is typical of his style, he urges the audience to be attentive, aware and analytical, as only together can we create something incredible, plant seeds, tend them and wait for them to bloom. The important thing is to focus on the essential goals and be constructive. There are many crucial things going on that require us to live with open eyes and minds.  The work is hand-signed by the artist in the lower right-hand corner and dated 2021.
