Landscape Art

Landscape art is typical of a lot of currents, changing features according to each different movement. In the Renaissance, landscape is the background for religious scenes, catching anyway the eye of the observant due to its amazing details.

With modern art, above all Romanticism, landscape took more importance, becoming protagonist and main communicator of feelings like melancholy, nostalgia and disquiet.

During contemporary art, this theme is declined in a livelier way, being characterised by bright and lit colours, and by cheerful drawings, for example the ones dedicated to bloomed fields, or to an elegant terrace in Capri during a summer day.

Nature is the undisputed star, but urban landscapes aren't left behind either, for example the portrayals of super-modern skyscrapers of New York, Venetians Architecture or Milan's Navigli.
