Macchiaioli

Pisacane Art is one of the most authoritative reference points for the Macchiaioli artists in Italy both for its rich collection, and for the various exhibitions that were organized by Roberto Ungaro over the years. Just think about the success of “L'eredità della macchia” (i.d. “The legacy of the bush") traveling exhibition, enriched from year to year, which brings together the art of Giovanni Fattori and that of his heir, Giovanni Malesci (www.giovannimalesci.it). Starting precisely from Giovanni Malesci, passing through Comparini and Domenici, until getting to Sbrana, Natali and Volpe: these are the artists, many of whom from Livorno, who have carried on the tradition of Macchiaioli. Each of their work is in fact obtained by the juxtaposition and contrast of spots of color and chiaroscuro to try to get as close as possible to the perception of the real image. Landscapes, seascapes, stories of farmers and fishermen are the typical themes of these authors that transport us to a peaceful reality, away from the hustle and bustle of contemporary life. Thus we have the opportunity to be able to preserve the testimony of the movement that has been the renewal in the realist sense of the modern Italian art.
