Renzo Nucara, Homage to Leonardo, polymateric silkscreen and collage, 50x50 cm

Renzo Nucara's material silkscreen prints, in which the artist also uses the collage technique. In an abstract atmosphere, made almost of deformed bubbles, the artist pays homage to Leonardo da Vinci by presenting us with drawings of some of his most famous projects.

His style often involves new materials - wood, found objects, transparent film - with which he creates the ironic Boxes of Memory. He returned to two-dimensionality with the Reperti (Findings), which characterised his artistic production in the 1990s: he plays with the idea of an object already corroded by time, made of papier-mâché, foam rubber and plastic material on which layers of colour, granules, pigments and elements of the natural world are thickened.

In this work, the revival of Leonardo's drawings of some of his inventions plays an important role.

The work is signed by hand in the lower right-hand corner and is numbered XXXV/L in the lower left-hand corner.
