Meloniski da Villacidro, Lovers, mixed media on canvas with small theatre frame, 35x35 cm (50x53 cm small theatre)

The painter and sculptor Meloniski da Villacidro, a lover of nature and the forces that bind man to the cosmos, plays with human and divine symbolism: in this work, two embracing hearts float, tied together with a small cord that descends towards the bottom. Like a theatrical backdrop, the scene is introduced by a zip that opens onto a surreal world dominated by love. The curtain features further little hearts created by the painter. The frame accompanying the canvas completes the sense of the composition: it is a colourful little theatre sculpted by Meloniski.
