Meloniski da Villacidro, Dreamed city, mixed media on paper with theatre frame, 38x50 cm (50x69 cm theatre)

The painter and sculptor Meloniski da Villacidro, a lover of nature and the forces linking man to the cosmos, plays with human and divine symbolism. In this work, the artist creates an ideal city, made up of colourful, luminous buildings, in harmony with nature, symbolised by the waves of the sea and the moon. 

The curtain features further magical symbols painted by the painter. The frame that accompanies the canvas completes the sense of the composition: it is a colourful little theatre sculpted by Meloniski.

The work, which can either be hung or held upright, is signed lower right.
