Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Le Bal au moulin de la Galette, poster, 80x60 cm
Le Bal au moulin de la Galette is one of the most famous artworks by French painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir, one of the Impressionism movement's founder. The painting is almost a manifesto of the French movement: it depicts an everyday life scene, where the middle-class is dancing, chatting and having fun at the moulin de la Galette, in Montmartre. The brushstrokes are quick, giving a hazy appearance to the subjects, in order to make the viewer perceive their movements and liveness, and the changes of light with the passing of time, one of the aspects Impressionist painters were most interested in.
The original artwork is at the Musée d'Orsay, in Paris.
