Medusa: work by the contemporary artist Carlo Massimo Franchi, dedicated to the well-known character of the Greek mithology. The figure of Medusa, and particularly of her head, is a subject that left an indelible mark in the course of arts, being represented by the most famous artists. Daughter of two hideous sea monsters, Medusa was originally depicted as a so beautiful woman that she fascinated all men: however, once they had met the gaze of the Gorgon, they were petrified. Franchi also elaborates the subject, framing her face in a mass of tousled and serpentine hair. The work is signed by the artist on the right bottom.
