Rossana Petrillo

Rossana Petrillo, born in Cassino in 1957, has lived and worked in Caserta since 1988. She attended the art school and the faculty of architecture in Rome, which she abandoned for wide-ranging experiments: from goldsmith, to restoration. In 1980 she returns to Cassino and opens a laboratory where she performs, working with ancient techniques and tools, works in leather and papier-mâché.

The arrival in Caserta marks the definitive choice of painting and the artist identifies from the beginning his main theme, women, placed on an absolutely unusual background, the thirst of San Leucio, which create an atmosphere of great suggestion.

She becomes known for her feminine figures emerging from silks and precious damasks, carefully selected and selected fabrics.  In her thirsts, which with their classic textures are the habitat of an all-female humanity, the artist refers directly to the atmosphere fin de siècle, inspired by the artists of the "left banks" of the Seine and the Belle Epoque of the Parisian crazy years, animated by the charge of the "chanteuses", rich in frills and lace frills.

They wrote about her: Massimo Sgroi, Arcangelo Izzo, Massimo Bignardi, Francesco Brignola, Carlo Roberto Sciascia, Nicoletta Rita Spelta, Lida Luberto, Antonio Tricomi, Silvana Virgini, Maria Rosaria Arena, Alessandra Rondelli and others.  The works of the artist from Caserta are now present in important private collections in Italy and abroad.
