Francesco Musante

Francesco Musante (Genoa 1950) is the painter of fairytales. His artworks are composed by fantastic little fellows, nocturnal skies, bright and surreal colours. They put the observant in a dreaming athmosphere and take him back to childhood. He use to combine pictures with sentences, poems and songs lyrics. This tendency comes from Pop Art of '70s, a period during which he use the colours approaching abstract style and Combine Paintings by Rauschenberg.


He tries different techniques and stands: watercolour, engraving, collage, oil on canvas, on boards, on paper and ceramic. After the experience as engraver in '70s, he devoted his life to painting. First his femenine shapes are nearby Gustave Klimt and Art Nouveau, and later he becomes the painter of fairytales. 

He dedicate a series of artworks to "Spoon River Anthology" and another one to "Alice in Wonderland". He illustrates many books of tales and he exhibits his works in Italy (Rome, Milan, Prato, Verona, Bologna, Turin, Florence) and abroad (Berlin, Paris, New York, Arabia).
