Le Decameron

The suite includes 10 color engravings and was created by Salvador Dali in 1972. As evident from the title, the collection is dedicated to Giovanni Boccaccio's Decameron composed in the 14th century.

The story tells of seven girls and three boys who flee Florence, a city devastated by the plague, to take refuge in the countryside. To cheer themselves up during their stay, they decide to take turns telling each other a novella whose theme will be decided from day to day by the king or queen, elected to direct the stories. Salvador Dali interprets the subject with his typical surrealist style, made with fast and refined strokes. Each copy is numbered in limited edition and hand signed.
