Pharaoh said, "Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I do not know him and I will not let his own people." They told him: "The God of the Hebrews has revealed to us. There is therefore allowed to leave for a three-day journey into the desert and sacrifice to our God, because there with pestilence or with the sword." The king of Egypt said to them: "Why, Moses and Aaron, let the people from his work? Go back to your work!". And he added: "There, now outnumber the people of the land, and you would like us to cease from their burdens!"
