Giuseppe Comparini

Giuseppe Comparini (Firenze 1894 – 1980) is a post macchiaioli painter, influenced by his predecessors Giovanni Fattori and Giovanni Malesci. His art is characterized by wonderful contrasts between light and colour, tipically impressionist.

He attended drawing and painting courses in Florence where he opened his workshop. His first exhibition maybe was in 1951 and his success was thanks to a gallerist from Milan, Guido Bolzani (1957) who periodically made Comparini exhibit his works.

The main themes of his paintings were landscapes, peasents at works, views of the Tuscan country. He often worked en plein air like Impressionists and his aim was to represent on canvas changements of light during the day. He studied with care chiaroscuro. His works are full of realism even if tricks of light give lirism to his compositions.
