Marcello Arletti

Marcello Arletti was born in 1963 in Piacenza, after finishing his studies, he graduated from the Liceo Artistico Statale d'Arte in Bologna and then took up the profession of Graphic Design and Visual Communication, an activity he still carries out. He works in Bologna and lives in the hills of Bologna. In 1996 he began to paint, attracted by light and the emotions it generates, he began a phase of study and experimentation on reflections and transparencies typical of the beam of light, painting by hand with transparent pigments on polished laminated aluminum, mounted on board.

REFLECTIONS is the term he uses to identify his paintings, because it contains two important meanings: a mental aspect and a physical phenomenon. REFLECTIONS are images that reflect perceptions habits and aspects of contemporary living. REFLECTIONS are paintings constructed by superimposing a series of glazes with transparent pigments on polished laminated aluminum and board. The idea of seeing the color in transparency, thanks to the light ray mirrored by the metal placed behind the pigment, amplifies its visibility and chromatic liveliness. REFLECTIONS is to see the color of the pigment in transparency, using the ambient light mirrored by the polished laminated aluminum. Arletti is more interested in the whole picture than the value of the details. He prefers to build the image while maintaining freshness by superimposing spots, halos and pigment veils, with sotrattiva synthesis, on the light reflected mirror-like by the aluminium that accentuates its chromatic vibrations. He added a bright spot behind the transparent pigment and therefore no longer represents light but uses it directly.

ALL STARS is a collection of images representing its stars. In essence he wanted to contrast two important aspects of life: Superfluous with Necessary. On the one hand it offers portraits of FAMOUS PEOPLE but also MASS PRODUCTS, while on the other hand it presents a series of images that concern the ENVIRONMENT in which we live, contrasting two themes more Superficial with the Deeper. In addition, he is interested in mixing figurative IMAGES with some KEYWORDS, which are small sentences, to complete the visual message.
