Hand-signed and numbered etching by Pablo Picasso. The etching, entitled “Homme barbu songeant à une scène des Mille et une nuits, avec derrière lui des ancêtres réprobateurs”, belongs to the collection “347” (plate 17). This collection was realized by the artist between 16th March and 5th October 1968. It took the name from the numbers of plates created and it shows the productivity of the artist also in the last period of his life. It was made in collaboration with the editors Aldo and Piero Crommelynck in a studio in Mougins (South France). The themes, interpretated in an ironic and provocative way, are usual for the artist: the circus, the theatre, the bullfight. The “347” collection is exhibited in some of the most important museum in the world, like the Art Institute of Chicago or the Picasso Museum in Paris. The etching is hand-signed lower right and numbered lower left 30/50 (Bloch 1633).
