Meloniski da Villacidro, Hot air balloons in concert, retouchè, 72x72 cm
Meloniski's unique work depicts a sunset sky crossed by three coloured hot-air balloons, two of which are carrying musical instruments, while the one in the foreground is holding the moon. On the latter, a thin, smiling figure is playing a double bass.
From the lower part of the work, fiery red tongues spread out and from them a swarm of marvellous, multicoloured butterflies frees itself in flight, sprinkling the whole landscape.
The atmosphere is typically dreamy, the fairy-tale aura is highlighted by the white clouds and stars that seem to transport the viewer into this dreamy world.
The work is signed at the bottom right and stamped at the bottom left.
