“Aprè la Pique” belong to the linocuts created by Pablo Picasso from 1958 to 1961. In the 1959 the cubism master enhanced the bullfight's theme, a subject had recently explored with brevity and wit in a series of aquatints. In that case he represented the setting of the arena and the massed crowd, on the other hand, for the linocuts, Picasso, focused on the interaction between the bullfight and the bull. The figures movement are drawing like a dance, where the thick excited lines cross produce a confused crowd. This's the most high – spirited linocut's subject that serve as a vehicle for intense lines. The new appeal of Picasso's productions lines in their decorative and spirited character. The palette, for many of the linocuts, is limited to a rang of black – white tones. Basically Picasso produces the form and the depth of the immagine through printed progressed from light to dark ( generally the white paper was printed with a cream tone over all the surface) and than the black draw line build the real immagine. These lines characterize all the linocuts productions. This process gives, both, a big three - dimensional effect and a full detailes image. The smoothness and the pliability of the linoleum makes all these possible. Here we can see a bullfight scene where the bull is runnind away from the bullfighter . Lines become thicken and black spots. All forms are more rounded and recall the traits used by Picasso in "Guernica" (for example in the bull and horse's features). The tones progressed from light brown to black brown. This linocut belongs to the riedition from 1962.
